About Us

Our Story

Founded in 2010 by Patrick Omutoj, Our Community Needs Uganda (OCONE) is a Community-Based Organization (CBO) dedicated to transforming lives in Bukedea District, Eastern Uganda. We started as a small group of volunteers determined to tackle poverty, injustice, and suffering in our communities. Over the years, we have expanded our efforts to support children, youth, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities through programs that provide education, clean water, shelter, food, economic empowerment, and mobility aid.

Guided by compassion and action, OCONE continues to be a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable, ensuring they live with dignity, access opportunities, and build sustainable futures.

Our Mission

To alleviate poverty, suffering, and injustice while promoting education, health, economic empowerment, and well-being for the most vulnerable communities in Bukedea District. We achieve this by partnering with local and international organizations to provide resources, technical support, and sustainable solutions for long-term community transformation.

Our Vision

A self-sustaining community where children, youth, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities live with hope, dignity, and equal opportunities to thrive.
