At Our Community Needs Uganda (OCONE), we are committed to creating lasting impact in the lives of vulnerable communities in Bukedea District, Uganda. Our programs focus on education, economic empowerment, health, and social inclusion, ensuring that individuals and families have the resources and skills needed to build a sustainable future.
📚 Education Support
We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. OCONE provides school fees, scholastic materials, and skills training for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to quality education and the tools they need to succeed.
🚴 Bicycle Distribution Program
Many students and families in rural Uganda struggle with long distances to schools, markets, and health centers. Through our Bicycle Distribution Program, we provide bicycles to students, families, and community workers, improving access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. A bicycle can be life-changing—it saves time, reduces fatigue, and empowers individuals to reach their full potential.
🏠 Shelter & Housing
Safe and secure housing is a basic human right. Many vulnerable individuals, including orphans, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, lack proper shelter. OCONE builds decent homes for families in need, offering them a safe and dignified place to live. By constructing homes, we restore hope, security, and stability for those who need it most.
💧 Clean Water & Sanitation
Access to clean water and proper sanitation is essential for healthy living. OCONE works with partners to drill boreholes, construct latrines, and promote hygiene awareness in rural communities. These initiatives reduce waterborne diseases, improve community well-being, and provide sustainable access to safe drinking water.
🍚 Food & Nutrition Support
No one should have to go hungry. Through our Food & Nutrition Support Program, we provide meals, food packages, and agricultural training to families facing food insecurity. By promoting sustainable farming practices, we help communities grow their own food, ensuring long-term food security and better nutrition.
♿ Disability Support & Inclusion
People with disabilities face numerous challenges, including limited mobility, stigma, and lack of opportunities. OCONE is committed to empowering individuals with disabilities by providing crutches, walking aids, wheelchairs, and community support. We advocate for equal rights, inclusion, and access to education, healthcare, and employment for persons with disabilities.
